Central America

The Central America's crossing, from Mexico to Panama, with a little detour to Cuba !

7 months, 8 countries and 7 500km.

A link between the north and south of the continent, Central America is a hyphen, a world a little apart.

Mexico requires a long journey through different climates, cultures and landscapes. I spent almost 5 months in this country, crossing beaches, deserts and mountains.

It's a huge and varied country.
A country where you have to start paying serious attention to where you sleep. The end of a form of freedom, so to speak.

A short side trip to Cuba too, with the rigours of an island that has been the victim of an embargo and a noxious policy for decades.

A complicated journey, a sometimes absurd reality and a perilous return.

Then everything moves very quickly. The countries are much smaller, and the crossing can be done very quickly.

We choose to hang around a bit, to take our time, while keeping an eye on the weather and the rainy season, which is starting to show its face.

And soon the pace changes, you have to get up early, cover the kilometres as quickly as possible, and find shelter for the rest of the day.

Shelter from the sun, the damp or the rain.
Or all at the same time.

But little by little we are making progress. In the solitude of a road that is less and less poetic, where we hardly meet anyone.

Then, one fine morning, we crossed the Panama Canal and found ourselves in the country's capital, ready to set off for South America.
